Live Event Illustration
Weddings, parties, corporate events, proms…
Live Event Illustration is all about capturing the fun and love of your event in the hearts and minds of your guests- and yours too of course!
I can sketch you live, in about 10 minutes, whilst we chat and sip a drink (water for me please!). If you prefer not to miss any of the party action, I am happy to take a quick photo and work from that. I will put the portrait images on display, like a mini-gallery if there’s enough space, and guests are free to collect them or view at any time.
I work with traditional or digital materials. The examples here are created with watercolour paints and coloured pencils details. I’m happy to work within the stipulations of your venue and can bring wet or dry materials- I’m very neat and organised and will clean up after myself, you won’t even know I was there!
(Apart from the lovely picture of you of course, which we both had so much fun creating.)
If you prefer to wait until after the event for your portraits, then I am happy to work from your photographs.
Think of it as a hand made polaroid snap, made with love and destined to be treasure. And, unlike a polaroid, there’s no need to shake them to bring them to life!
Parties
Whether at home or for a corporate event, nothing adds a twist of bohemian razzamatazz like having a live illustrator in the mix!
I used to only draw people in secret- sitting behind them on a bus or opposite them on the tube or in a cafe. Now I am more open about it. Most people enjoy being drawn and it’s a lovely shared experience.
Lots of humans like being drawn by humans. And many humans like drawing other humans- I am one of those.
Sometimes I’ll take a photograph and then draw from that, but there is something different about drawing from life. It is more exciting, more compelling, more alive to draw a human person who is standing, or languishing, in front of you.
Proms
Illustration services at the event itself or individual portraits crafted afterwards- your favourite pictures immortalised as a glamorous fashion illustration!
I have discovered that people like being drawn. They are drawn to it (arf!)
People are intrigued as to how an artist sees them- often a bit shy at first (which is good because artists are notoriously shy themselves) and then they relax and enjoy the attention. Both of you can have a bit of a chat, and the insight into a new personality makes the portrait even more meaningful.
Fashion Illustration.
The joyful, unfettered world of showing clothes as they were intended- celebrating layers and textures, exaggerating the highlights and embracing all the details. Fashion illustration is my first love.
