A Couple of Things OO

The first thing I’d like to draw your attention to is an illustration that I created this week in response to a Vogue article. The article was entitled, “Could There Possibly be a Whole New Way to Think about our Breasts?”

I must confess, I don’t know the answer because I didn’t read the whole article and I don’t think about our breasts very often anyway, so it would be hard to pin-point a “new” way. What did strike me, however, was that the article included an image from the latest Valentino catwalk show: a couple of the models were older than me! Wow, great! And their clothes were see-through! Heavens to Murgatroyd!

(I’m trying not to say “older woman” but I don’t know how else to refer to an “older woman”,  perhaps you know a better way?)

To illustrate the article, I thought I would illustrate the woman in her gorgeous Valentino gown, with its shiny, transparent lace and twinkly sequins. I took her off the catwalk (Valentino had paraded his models in a posh public toilet) and perched her on the side of the fountain in the foyer at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Above her, the Three Graces, in their scanty slave-girl outfits, stare vacantly. I drew some blurry tourists milling about, one of them is looking at the Three Graces, perhaps he is thinking about their breasts in a new way?

Meanwhile, our heroine is enjoying a cocktail and having a whale of a time. Here she is, I’ll have what she’s having please!

Next up is a model I illustrated in a mystery destination. There are some clues in the picture, can you tell what they are, or should I spell it out more clearly?

(OK, I’ll tell you- It’s M for McQueen and Monaco)

I’m thinking of creating a whole fashion alphabet, but I think it might take a few years!

Fun fact- did you know that the Red Carnation is the national flower of Monaco?

A model in a fluffy and silky gown by Alexander McQueen struts beside object that spell out the word Monaco.

Also, this week, I’ve been to 2 Private Views in Crystal Palace! The first was at the Tom Cox Gallery on Thursday, the second at The Paxton Centre on Friday. I did a couple of lightning fast sketches at both and spent most of my time absorbing beautiful art work.

Perhaps most exciting, is the arrival of my business cards. I said there would be a big announcement at the end of the month. Things do appear to be going according to plan, so I will make the announcement on October 1st. Or maybe at midnight on September 30th.  Or maybe, with the help of AI, I can create a Countdown thingy, here goes:

Sure! Here is a countdown from now until October 1st:

Countdown to October 1st:

  • Days remaining: 23 days

  • Hours remaining: 552 hours

  • Minutes remaining: 33,120 minutes

  • Seconds remaining: 1,987,200 seconds

Let me know if there's anything else I can assist you with! 😊

Well, I’m sure you’ll agree that’s very helpful.

Here are my business cards for you to peruse whilst you while away 2 million seconds.

I am taking enquiries for my business now, and bookings from October 1st. So please do think of me if you are planning an event or have a publication that would benefit from my fashion illustrations (In about 34,000 minutes’ time).

I can illustrate live at your work’s Christmas do, or at a wedding. I can illustrate live in store, if you have a nice shop- and I can paint a design on your windows. I can live illustrate your meeting (in person or remotely by Graphic Recording) and I can illustrate your books, magazines, poems or anything else.

I’m drawn to drawing people. Thanks for subscribing!
