The Eagle Has Landed.

And is happily building its nest. Squawk!

After all the excitement of launching my business, officially as a Fashion Illustrator, I (The Eagle, haha) have been happily settling into my business nest, with a little help from my eaglet. I have started to organise my business eggs, and some have already hatched. And now I’m going to ditch the Eagle analogy because I’m getting on my own nerves.

Showcasing fashion illustrations, wedding illustrations and portraits at Keston Art Show

I’m providing a range of illustration services, which you can see on my website. The next few weeks I’ll be focusing on Live Event illustration, as we are coming into party season!

This weekend I had a very enjoyable time at Keston Art Show.  Keston is a very picturesque village close to Croydon. It is surrounded by forest and packed with talented artists, so quite a wonderful place. I brought along some of my original work as well as prints, but the main thing that caught people’s attention was the Five-Minute Portrait sessions that I offered.

I love to draw people from life; it’s a skill I’ve honed from taking part in Pencils4Tea via Zoom on a Thursday night. And people love to be drawn! If it’s only a five-minute sketch, there isn’t time for wrinkles or perceived defects (as if you would have any!) and so I am able to capture everyone’s good side. It always makes me so happy to see other people happy and smiling when I show them my sketches.

My friend seeing the portrait that she commissioned for the first time. She is happy, honest!

Here is a friend seeing a portrait of her sister for the first time. My friend commissioned the picture for her sister’s special birthday. I was very moved when I saw her reaction as she was quite tearful (happy tears!), and it was so lovely to be a part of the celebration. In the picture below you can see the recipient (also my lovely friend) with her portrait.

The size is A4, the portrait is created in watercolour with coloured pencil details.

I loved creating this portrait, and I was very moved by the happy reaction and lovely comments.

My next upcoming show is with the Croydon Art Society from October 20th to November 2nd at the Vellum Mill in Carshalton. I’ll be stewarding there on the afternoon of Saturday October 25th, so do pop in!

Do let me know if you would like me to draw at your next event, or if you would like to commission a portrait. Spaces are booking up fast this side of Christmas!

Prices for commissions A4 size start at £250. Prices for Live Events, and all the logistics are on my website here. Do get in touch if you would like to know more, price packages and logistics can be tweaked to suit different requirements!
