What a Private View most certainly is not.
Last week I mentioned to someone that I’m having an exhibition and perhaps he would like to come to the Private View.
“What’s that then?” he asked.
I’ve been immersed in the world of art for so long that it had not occurred to me that anyone would not know what a Private View is.
I’m going to answer in my own words, without googling or using AI.
A Private View is an exclusive event that an artist or art gallery hosts in order to showcase a body of work to a selected audience.
What a Private View is NOT (again I’m not going to google this for fear of my laptop being seized by the authorities): it’s not a view of anyone’s privates; nor a peep show; neither an expose of official secrets or a glimpse into a forbidden world.
And if it’s an appreciation of topiary expertise that you’re after, well that would be a Privet View.
Here’s a link to book tickets to my Privet, I mean Private View , which is this Friday (16th January) from 7-9pm
Here are some images from behind the scenes, to whet your appetite- I do hope you can come!
